Today’s Unintentional Shootings
In the Bronx, New York, after shooting his 32-year-old roommate in the head, killing him, the shooter fled down the apartment building stairwell and unintentionally shot and killed himself. Another man, 56, was grazed in the cheek during the incident. According to a detective on the case, the 28-year-old gunman tripped and fell with his finger still on the trigger, fatally shooting himself in the neck.
In South Bend, Indiana, a man is in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being accidentally shot.
In Washington, Pennsylvania, a 15-year-old girl who was accidentally shot in the leg has been released from the hospital. Police are investigating.
A family member tried to intervene when an armed 54-year-old man experienced a mental health crisis in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. During the struggle, a 70-year-old family member was unintentionally shot in the arm. The victim was taken to the hospital and later released. After a four hour standoff with the shooter, the SWAT team entered the home and took the man into custody.
