Three People Injured in Gun Accidents Today
Responding officers said a child got access to a loaded gun that discharged, injuring their older sibling in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The victim was alert when taken to the hospital. No word on their current condition.
Near Century, Florida, a 17-year-old female was shot in the upper leg after a .45-caliber gun unintentionally fired. Someone was cleaning the gun and thought it was unloaded. The girl was airlifted to the hospital, and is expected to survive.
And an off-duty school police officer accidentally shot himself in his home in San Antonio, Texas. The 67-year-old man was handling his gun when it discharged, striking him in the lower part of his body. He was taken to the hospital in unknown condition. Police determined that there is no criminal aspect to the incident, as they continue to investigate.
