Teen Shot in Leg With Stolen Gun
In Middletown, Ohio, a 16-year-old boy is expected to recover after he was accidentally shot in the leg by a friend with a stolen gun. The shooting happened at night on the grounds of a local elementary school. “One of these dumb teenagers went to put the gun in the other one’s pocket, it appears, and he shot him in the leg,” said the sheriff.
Surveillance video showed the shooting happened behind a dumpster on the school grounds, and deputies later found a black and purple 9mm gun inside the dumpster. The gun had been reported stolen by the victim’s stepmother the day before. The sheriff indicated that charges are pending as detectives continue to investigate. The school sent out a notice the following day, “…under the advisement of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office we are continuing with school as normal, except for holding indoor recess for Woodland Students so as not to impede with their investigation.”
