13-year-old Boy Accidentally Shot
Responding to a call, police found a 13-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his shoulder at a residence in Valdosta, Georgia. He claimed not to know who shot him, and a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old sitting in the garage, said they didn’t know anything about the shooting. The victim was treated and released at the hospital. Detectives eventually determined that the three juveniles were playing with two guns, when one accidentally discharged striking the victim. The teenagers hid the guns that had been reported stolen, but they were recovered by detectives. The 14- and 16-year-old teens were charged with reckless conduct, tampering with evidence, and possession of a handgun under the age of 18. The 16-year-old was also charged with theft by receiving stolen property.
