Two Children Killed, Officer Injured, in Unintentional Shootings Today

Inside a home in San Antonio, Texas, eight-year-old Daniel Casares was fatally shot in the neck by his 13-year-old brother. At the time of the shooting, multiple children were in the home with no supervising adult present. The teenager has been charged with manslaughter.

A 17-year-old girl was shot and killed in Greenville, North Carolina. The suspected shooter was the girl’s 17-year-old boyfriend. Police believe the shooting to be accidental, and the suspect is cooperating with authorities.

And while searching for a suspect, a Houston, Texas METRO police officer was grazed by a bullet, when a homeowner fired a gun thinking someone was trying to break into their home. The officer is expected to be OK. It’s not clear if the homeowner will be charged.
