Few details were reported in the accidental shooting death of a woman at a gas station in San Marcos, Texas. Her toddler was with her at the time. Police are investigating.
In Jacksonville, Florida, a 39-year-old man was unintentionally shot by a police officer during a traffic stop for running a red light. As the officer was trying to remove the man’s gun from his waistband, it unexpectedly fired striking the man in the leg. A police spokesman said, “[t]hey [driver] were cooperative. No struggle at all, told the officer ‘I do have a firearm’ and the officer chose to separate that individual from the firearm during the traffic stop.” He also indicated that no criminal charges will be filed, but a ticket may be issued to the man for running a red light.
In Denver, Colorado, a driver apparently shot themself in the leg, and then crashed into a business causing a gas line to rupture. No word on the driver’s condition.
And in Pomona, California, a man and his mother sustained non-life-threatening injures, when a gun he was manipulating unintentionally fired. He was shot in the hand and shrapnel hit his mother. He will likely be charged for a negligent discharge, but may also face additional charges.
