County in South Carolina Reports Two Shootings Involving Children; Ten-year-old Girl Killed

Miyah Harp

Aiken County, South Carolina, saw two accidental shootings today that involved children.

In Windsor, ten-year-old Miyah Harp died after being shot in the chest by a family member handling a small-caliber rifle that accidentally fired. An autopsy will be performed, as the sheriff’s office continues to investigate.

And in Aiken, three-year-old Tyson Jones, found a gun in a home and shot himself. He was taken to the hospital in unknown condition, but his mother posted on Facebook that her son “will be okay.” Local residents offered prayers, and also noted the danger guns pose once they are accessible to children. One said, “[l]ord protect the baby and pray these parents understand how curious our children are!”
