12-year-old Dies in Shooting Accident

Tyler Taffe

Tyler Taffe, age 12, an Edmond, Oklahoma middle school student, died in a gun accident at a local home today.  The specific circumstances have not been released, but no arrests have been made.

Taffe’s middle school classmates are mourning his loss. “I tried calling him. Then I thought he was in the hospital at first, but then he wasn’t,” one of Taffe’s friends said. “If you do have a gun in the house, make sure you keep a lock on it, and I think [the school] is going to be starting that process for our parents that they need a safety lock for the gun. We’re going to provide one for them,” the school principal offered.

The students also plan to hold up Taffe’s jersey before every football game this season and to put memorial stickers on their helmets.
