Two Children Find Unsecured Guns; Four-year-old Shoots Mother and Nine-year-old Shoots Self
While lying in bed in Drexel, Pennsylvania, a woman was shot in the thigh by her four-year-old son who was playing with a loaded gun he found in the home. The discharge also burned the boy’s hand. Both were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover. Detectives are investigating to determine who owned the gun and how the child got ahold of it.
And in Madison Heights, Michigan, a nine-year-old boy is in stable condition after shooting himself in the hand with his parents’ unsecured gun. Because the boy was injured, his mother and stepfather were arraigned on felony charges for violating Michigan’s safe storage law.
