Man Shot in Foot at Gun Show
A customer at a gun show in Jacksonville, Florida, was unintentionally shot when another customer, a 42-year-old man at one of the booths, attempted to “dry fire” a gun that he thought was unloaded. The bullet struck the concrete floor and ricocheted, hitting the victim in the foot. His injury was not-life-threatening. The 42-year-old had been talking to the owner of the booth, Charles Boyd Jr., about purchasing the gun and was assured it was not loaded. Boyd Jr., who is also a firearms instructor, said he had taken the magazine out, but forgot to clear the chamber because he was busy that morning. All evidence was recovered by the sheriff’s office, and officials determined that since the incident was an accident there was no need for further investigation.
