Officer Injured in Accidental Shooting
In Ogdensburg, New York, a police officer is in stable condition at the hospital after being accidentally shot by a fellow officer during a shift change. The officer who fired the gun, and six other officers who witnessed the shooting, have been placed on administrative leave. Per protocol, the witnesses will be on leave until the sheriff’s office questions them. The mayor noted that eight officers represents a third of the department, and that the sheriff’s office and state police will be assisting them while the incident is being investigated.
