Boy Critically Injured During Reckless Gun Play
A 16-year-old boy is in critical condition after being unintentionally shot in the head by 20-year-old Joseph Hampton Roberts in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Several people were playing around with guns, pointing them at cameras and each other when the shooting occurred. Hampton Roberts believed the gun he held to be unloaded after he removed the clip; but when he pulled the trigger, the round in the chamber fired, striking the boy as he sat in a car. Hampton Roberts was charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. A county grand jury will make the final determination about any additional charges in connection with the shooting.
