11-year-old Boy Accidentally Shot and Killed by Uncle

In Scranton, South Carolina, 11-year-old Brentlee Eugene Crump was unintentionally shot and killed by his uncle, William Glen Richburg. Brentlee lived with the uncle who, according to the police report, shot at a tree next to his house, and then held the shotgun near his side when it went off for “unknown reasons” striking the boy in his stomach area.

“…This was a bad accident. And it was really an accident. And if he could take it over. He would take it all away. But, you can’t take away anything like this when it happens,” said Brentlee’s great-aunt.

Brentlee was a fifth grader at the local elementary school. The sheriff’s office is investigating the shooting and an autopsy has been scheduled. No charges have been filed at this time.
