Corrections Officer Killed in Training Accident

On the firing range at the prison training facility in Orient, Ohio, Lt. Rodney Osborne was killed after being accidentally shot in the chest during training. Details about the incident have not been reported, and the ongoing investigation will be carried out by the state highway patrol that has jurisdiction over state property.

Osborne, called “Ozzy” by his coworkers, was a much beloved member and 13-year veteran of the department of correction and rehabilitation. A cousin said he loved activities such as fishing and shooting guns. “If he could help anybody in the world, he would…He definitely left us doing something that he loved,” said his cousin. A devoted family man, he leaves behind a wife and three children.
