Eighth Grader Killed by Best Friend in Hunting Accident
Cameron Connor, 13, was accidentally shot and killed by his best friend while they were hunting on a property in Santee, South Carolina. Both boys were in the eighth grade at a local private school. They played together on the school’s football and baseball teams.
According to his mother, Cameron was an avid hunter and fisherman. “He had the ability to make anyone laugh with his amazing fishing and hunting stories that he loved to share.” His father said that “[h]e loved the outside, was outgoing, kind and generous.” Cameron’s father also asked that people pray for Cameron’s grieving friend and his family.
The department of natural resources is handling the investigation into the incident, and autopsy and toxicology results are pending.
