Four People Injured in Unintentional Shootings

A male driver accidentally shot himself in the knee as he fled police during a traffic stop in Birmingham, Alabama. When police tried to stop the man, he got out of the car and fled. While running he shot himself, and was quickly captured and taken to the hospital.

An intoxicated elderly man unintentionally shot himself and then called 911 in Jasper, Texas. Police located the man’s apartment, and used a battering ram to get inside. He had a gunshot wound to his knee and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

In Rochester, New York, 25-year-old Abobakar Wali, was driving around making random 911 calls when he unintentionally shot himself in the leg. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

And in Augusta, Georgia, a 10 year-old boy shot his 13-year-old brother in the chest while playing with a gun he found in his mother’s purse. The boy had been caught playing around with the 9mm Taurus pistol before. When the mother left the room, the 10-year-old got the gun and accidentally shot his brother. The 13-year-old was taken to the hospital for surgery, and the mother, Sharise Nicole Sims, 34, was charged with two counts of cruelty to children.
