Four People Hurt After Young Children Find Unsecured Guns
In Las Vegas, Nevada, a toddler shot themself with a gun found on the playground of a daycare center. Tshaun Rucker, 16, got into an argument with an adult on a public bus and allegedly pulled out and gun and shot the adult. Rucker then left the scene and hid the loaded gun on the playground where the toddler found it. The toddler was taken to the hospital in stable, but critical condition. Rucker faces multiple charges including attempted murder, possessing a dangerous weapon on a childcare property, and possession of a firearm by a child under the age of 18.
A 3-year-old in Columbus, Ohio, shot himself with his father’s loaded handgun found in an unlocked drawer. The father, Abdalla Abdalla, 21, took the child to the hospital and initially told police he didn’t know any details about the incident. After police interviewed his family, Abdalla then told police he kept the gun in an unlocked drawer and was in the bathroom when he heard the commotion from the shooting. He has been charged with endangering a child.
And a 4-year-old boy in a vehicle in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, accidentally shot himself in the face with a gun he found behind a front passenger seat. The round then went through the front passenger seat and hit the adult sitting there. The gun used was thrown out of the window. Police believe they found the gun in the middle of the road and determined that it had been stolen. The driver of the vehicle Jakevious Moore, 26, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and receiving stolen property.
