Two People Killed in Unintentional Shootings

Hussein Mohamed, 14, unintentionally shot and killed 14-year-old Madden Gouveia in Bristol Vermont. The boys were with at least two other people in a car, including an 18-year-old man, as Gouveia passed around a 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun he had with him. The others in the car were handling the weapon, waving it around, loading and unloading it. The gun discharged while Mohamed was holding it fatally striking Gouveia. The 18-year-old told police that Mohamed said to Gouveia, “[I] didn’t mean to shoot you.” Mohamed has been charged as an adult with second-degree murder, manslaughter, and aggravated assault.

A woman in Rome, Georgia, unintentionally shot and killed the father of her child believing he was an intruder breaking into her home. Jamon Kenterius Allen, 20, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. No other details have been reported.
