Teens Shot While Playing with Guns, and Two Other Gun Accidents Today
A group of teenagers were playing with guns when two of them were accidentally shot in Center Point, Alabama. A 16-year-old and a 19-year-old were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. As the mayor described the incident, “[a] group of teenagers playing with the firearm. Someone accidentally shot, pulled the trigger which caused someone else to pull the trigger.” He also said that the game involved pulling out a gun faster than your opponent. That is apparently when the accident occurred. The sheriff’s department is continuing to investigate.
In Chesterton, Indiana, a 21-year-old woman was hospitalized in stable condition after being shot by her boyfriend. He was cleaning his new semi-automatic pistol when it unintentionally fired striking the woman. The investigation is ongoing.
And in Charlotte, North Carolina, few details have been reported about an accidental shooting at the department’s training facility. Officials did say that the incident did not involve the police department and the victim is expected to recover.
