One Man Dies, and Two Others are Hurt in Gun Accidents Today

In San Antonio, Texas, a man in his 30’s unintentionally shot and killed himself. Details about the shooting remain unclear, as police wait for the medical examiner’s findings for more information. The investigation is ongoing.

A 16-year-old in Detroit, Michigan accidentally shot himself and was hospitalized in temporary serious condition. Few details about the incident have been released.

And Nicole Adams in Lake Worth Beach, Florida, was working on her property when she was struck in the back by a stray bullet. Her neighbor was firing rounds for target practice on his lot, over 900 feet away from Adams, when the round struck her. The sheriff’s office responded, but said their hands are tied because a state statue allows her neighbor to shoot firearms on their property. The sheriff’s response, of course, makes little sense, since people are allowed to engage in many activities that are criminal only if undertaken negligently or with reckless disregard for the safety of others.
