Woman Helping Clean a Rifle is Accidentally Shot and Boy is Injured While Target Shooting
Robert Sipe, 45, of Findlay, Ohio, unintentionally shot a woman who was helping him clean a rifle. The rifle had not been cleared, and when the trigger was pulled during the cleaning process, a single round was discharged striking the woman in the abdomen. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Once police complete their investigation, charges of discharging a firearm within city limits will be forwarded to the city prosecutor.
In Gerlach, Nevada, a boy was target shooting with his family when a bullet from his sibling’s .22 long rifle ricocheted off a rock, breaking off a piece, that then flew and hit the boy in the back of the head. He suffered minor injuries. According to deputies, no charges will be filed since the children were supervised and the incident was an accident.
