Four Children Injured in Gun Accidents, Two of Those with Guns They Found
In Memphis, Tennessee, a 5-year-old boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being accidentally shot at his home. The 5-year-old and his brother had found the gun near their home, but it’s not reported who pulled the trigger. No charges have been filed and police are continuing to investigate.
A 14-year-old in Toledo, Ohio, accidentally shot himself with a gun he found. He initially reported that someone shot him outside his house, but later admitted that his wounds were self-inflicted. He was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. No other information has been reported.
In Bainbridge, Ohio, a 12-year-old boy was accidentally shot on his family’s property. He was airlifted to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. Police are investigating the shooting as non-criminal. No other information has been reported.
Terrence James, 21, unintentionally wounded a 16-year-old girl in Hammond, Louisiana. James was attempting to break up a fight by firing shots into the ground that ricocheted hitting the girl in the leg. No word about the victim’s condition, but James has been charged with one count of negligent injury and one count of Illegally discharging a firearm.
