Two Children and Two Hunters Injured in Gun Accidents
A 2-year-old in San Antonio, Texas was playing with a 9-millimeter handgun when it fired, shooting them in the face. The child was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and police are continuing to investigate.
Walking with her boyfriend near a middle school in Ladson, South Carolina, a girl tripped and fell, causing a gun she was carrying to unintentionally discharge. The victim was transported to the hospital with a wound to her upper leg. It was later revealed that her boyfriend had stolen the firearm from his parent’s bedroom and gave it to the victim before the shooting. He was arrested on one count of possession of a firearm by a person under 18.
In Martinsville, Indiana, 54-year-old turkey hunter Shawn Hooper misidentified two other hunters, Jeffery McClintic, 31, and Scott Poynter, 34, wounding both of them when he fired in their direction. Their injuries are non-life-threatening and the accident is being investigated. This is the third turkey hunting accident in four days.
