Five People Injured in Gun Accidents
In Lebanon, Ohio, Daniel C. Wright, 22, accidentally shot himself and his 19-year-old female passenger while sitting in a vehicle in a Walmart parking lot. Wright apparently shot himself in the arm; the bullet went through him and into his passenger’s neck. Both were treated at the scene before being transported to the hospital where they were released a short time later. Wright has been charged with negligent assault and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.
A 16-year-old high-school student in St. Paul, Minnesota was caught on surveillance video striking another student in the head multiple times with a gun he brought into the school. When the magazine fell out the student picked it up, put it back in, concealed the gun, and walked out of the building. Once the student was outside, a security officer saw him from across the street, heard what sounded like a gunshot, and noticed he walked away with an apparent limp suggesting he may have accidentally shot himself. Police are investigating.
A 15-year-old boy in St. Louis, Missouri was accidentally shot in the elbow. No other details are available at this time.
And in another shooting today in Missouri, this time in Jackson at the Trail of Tears campground, a deputy responded to a person suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to their right shoulder. After being treated at the scene, the injured person was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
