Dog Shoots Hunter by Stepping on Gun

In Sumner County, Kansas, a hunter died from his injuries in a gun accident that was reportedly caused by a dog stepping on a gun. The sheriff’s office determined that “the man was sitting in the front passenger seat of the pickup when a dog stepped on the rifle in the back seat, causing the weapon to discharge.”  The injured hunter died at the scene.

In other gun accidents today, Amir Porter of Douglasville, Georgia, age 3, is in critical condition and on a ventilator after finding a gun in his father’s hotel room and shooting himself in the head.  Amir’s father was denied bail on several felony charges after lying to investigators about the incident.  He also told the court that he didn’t believe he had done anything wrong.

In Detroit, Michigan, a five year old found an unattended gun at home and shot himself in the hand.  And returning to Indianapolis, Indiana for the fourth time this month, a 10-year old was shot while sleeping in his bed by gunfire that took place outside. Both boys are expected to survive.
