In Goldsboro, North Carolina, a seven-year-old child was shot by an eight-year-old relative, but is expected to recover. There has been no report about how the children got the gun.
Michael Howard-Owens of Chicago, Illinois, was in bed with his girlfriend and her three-year old son, when his gun, which was in his waistband, accidentally discharged. The round passed through the boy’s foot and then into his own leg. Howard-Owens initially claimed that they were shot by a third person, before acknowledging the accident. Saying the allegations are “absolutely, positively shocking to the conscience,” a local judge ordered Howard-Owens to pay a $35,000 bail deposit. The Judge may not be aware that is common for American gunowners to sleep with their guns.
And in North Bloomfield, Ohio, a 44-year-old man shot himself in the knee with a 9 mm Smith & Wesson pistol. No further details about the circumstances of the accident were published.
