A Bluefield, West Virginia 2-year-old and two siblings, age 4 and 6, were playing in a bedroom of their home when the 2-year-old found a loaded .40 caliber pistol and shot himself in the leg. “The hollow-point bullet went through his thigh,” according to a police spokesperson. Although the child lost “a substantial amount of blood,” he was stable when transferred to the hospital. The gun purportedly belonged to the child’s mother’s boyfriend.
In Raleigh, North Carolina, a shooter at a gun range fired a bullet into their own leg. Although the patron was taken to the hospital by medics, the injury was described as minor. Police are not disclosing the identity of the “victim” and no further information has been released.
In Utica, New York, Michael Durso, 51, was handling a handgun when it went off, resulting in a wound to his ear. He was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and other crimes.
At a hardware store in Warren, Michigan, a customer’s handgun fell out of a holster and shot them in the hip. The customer was taken to the hospital by medical technicians.
