A Columbus, Ohio man mistook his 16-year old daughter, Janae Hairston, for an intruder at 4:30 A.M. today. He accidentally shot and killed her. She was in the family’s garage when the accident occurred.

Authorities say the girl’s mother called 911 at 4:30 A.M. In a recording of the 911 call, the father asks “his daughter what she was doing, and both parents beg for [their daughter] to wake up.” The hysterical mother begged for an ambulance as a man in the background said repeatedly, “Breathe, baby.”
