Dameon Bates, age 29, of Toledo, Ohio was shot and killed today when he and a friend were “horsing around” with a gun at a party. Bates died at the scene. His friend Mychal Smith, age 30, was arrested and charged with reckless homicide.

In a similar incident today in Dallas, Texas, 18-year old Alexandre Orozco Garcia was charged with manslaughter after he accidentally shot his friend Christian Avila at a local apartment with a 9 .mm pistol.  Avila died at a local hospital.  Orozco Garcia was arrested after he and another friend made statements to police about the circumstances in which the gun went off.
