Two Memphis, Tennessee girls were shot and killed in separate gun accidents today.
In the first incident, at 2:30 A.M., William Oliver accidentally shot and killed his own eight-year old daughter, believing she was an intruder. He has been arrested and charged with reckless homicide.
In the other incident, a Memphis six-year old was shot by a sibling who found a loaded gun. The young girl died at the hospital. According to the news story, an adult is likely to be arrested for leaving the weapon unsecured.
In Memphis, 18 children have been shot and killed already this year. “What that does to our community is devastating. We should all be tired of it,” the police chief said.
