In Holt, Michigan, a woman accidentally shot both herself and her boyfriend with a single round fired from her recently purchased handgun.  She had removed the magazine from the weapon and did not realize that there was still a round in the chamber.  Apparently, the gun had no magazine safety disconnect.

Both the woman and her boyfriend were shot in the leg.  Neither injury is considered life-threatening.
