Continuing a string of horrific accidents involving Indiana children, a 9-year old South Bend boy was shot today, apparently by his older brother.  Tre’von Barnett and a group of neighborhood kids were playing with a gun which went off.  Responding police found Tre’von dead in the yard.  Investigators are attempting to figure out how the kids came into possession of the weapon.

A neighbor who knew the boys says  that after the incident Tre’von’s brother said,  “‘[k]ill me right now, I don’t deserve to be here without my brother,’ something like that. Because I don’t think he would mean to shoot his own brother.”

Tre’von “”was really smart for his age, he knew a lot,” on of his friends told the reporter. “You could tell he was really into schooling and stuff like that. He was funny and liked to make jokes and make other people laugh.”
