In Ottumwa, Iowa, Brian Rainey, an off-duty deputy sheriff for the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office was shot and killed in a gun accident.  Authorities say he was shot in the torso.

According to the Ottumwa police, the shooting was accidental.  They have not said who fired the gun that killed Rainey.  Other details of the accident are also unavailable.
