Adult Death Juvenile Arrested South Carolina

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2019

Shawn Patrick Burse, 18, was arraigned today on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in Greenwood, South Carolina after his pregnant girlfriend, Teresa Michelle Parkman, died from a gunshot wound received while they were cleaning a rifle together.   Witnesses said there was no ill will and that there appeared to be no fight or conflict before the gun went off.  But, according to an investigator, Burse ran from the police when they arrived at the scene and asked them to kill him when he was caught.  The investigator said that in his view, the entire incident was a “tragic accident.”

At the Court hearing, Crystal Parkman said, “[n]ot only did I lose my sister, but I lost my niece that she was carrying.”

A family member later reported in a communication made directly to this Journal that the incident was not an accident.

  1. This is about my youngest sister and I just wanted to correct the fact that you have my other sisters name wrong. It is Crystal not Cheryl. This was no accident, as one(possibly 2) of the people there that day has come forward with the truth. Not that it matters anyway because they never changed his charges and from what my family has heard, he overdosed sometime in the past few weeks. So my sister and niece got some type of justice.

    1. I am very sorry about your sister. It is such a sad story. I appreciate the corrections and I will make some changes….
