Police Chief Faces Discipline for Leaving Gun In Restroom For The Second Time

Todd Raybuck, the Kaua’i, Hawaii police chief, is being investigated after a complaint was filed today saying that he left his duty weapon inside a police department restroom. The gun was a loaded Glock with a round in the chamber.

The disciplinary complaint alleges that the gun was found in its holster in a bathroom stall.  It is also alleged that in an incident last year, the chief’s gun was found unholstered on a restroom windowsill.  The police union asserts that members of the public have access to the restroom where the gun was found.  However, the chief denies that this is the case.

The complaint states: ““I bring this matter to your attention with the hope that appropriate and meaningful corrective measures can be taken.” The complainant, a police employee, says that he was initially in “disbelief” when he found out the gun belonged to the Chief. “Then was appalled to learn that it was his second occurrence.”
