Three-year-old Girl Shot and Killed by Six-year-old Brother; Other Americans Injured by Celebratory Gunfire

In Little Rock, Arkansas, a three-year-old girl was shot and killed at home. Police believe that her six-year-old brother found a loaded gun and shot her but are continuing to investigate. The little girl died at the hospital.

And, as is common on July 4, an unspecified number of Americans were injured by celebratory gunfire:

At least four such injuries occurred in Nashville, Tennessee. The celebratory gunfire in Nashville occurred as 350,000 people gathered downtown for the “Let Freedom Sing” celebration. Another similar incident involved a Hartsville, Tennessee grandmother.

A woman and a teenager were struck by stray bullets in separate incidents in Miami-Dade County, Florida on July 4, authorities there said. The teenager, 13-year-old Ijamyn Grey, was taken to the hospital in stable condition. "I was looking at the people throwing fireworks, and I felt something hit my shoulder," Grey told a reporter. "I don't know where it came from, but I just know a bullet hit my arm."  And in Homestead, Florida, a woman was struck by a stray bullet while watching fireworks. She was airlifted to Jackson South Medical Center in critical condition.
