Four People Hurt in Gun Accidents, Including One Child

A 7-year-old girl was outside in Camden, New Jersey, when she was hit by a stray bullet. She was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition. No other information has been released, but police say the girl was not the intended victim.

In Houston, Texas, Tomecia Bell, 33, unintentionally shot a 29-year-old male family member. The victim is reported in stable condition. Bell told police that a gun she grabbed during a domestic dispute, which accidentally discharged and struck her relative. She has been charged with aggravated assault of a family member.

In Akron, Ohio, a 43-year-old woman was hit by a stray bullet from an altercation that escalated into gunfire. Her injury is not thought to be life-threatening. No other information is available.

And in the second accidental shooting in Springfield, Tennessee in two consecutive days—only a street apart from each other—a 23-year-old man is in stable condition after he shot himself in the wrist while cleaning his firearm. “Whereas most people might think an accidental discharge happens when inexperienced people handle firearms, I would share that many accidental discharges occur with experienced and well-versed gun owners,” said the EMS director.
