Eric Joseph Adams of D’Iberville Mississippi called police after his rifle discharged “unexpectedly” while he was putting it away. The round tore through the door of a neighboring apartment and struck and killed Stayvia Leone Hood, age 23. Adams was arrested and charged with manslaughter.

“It’s just horrible, just horrible,” the local police chief said.

Also today, Larry Gonzalez, a 13-year old Dallas, Texas boy was charged with manslaughter after he accidentally shot and killed his 13-year old friend. According to family members, the boy’s friend, Isaac Rodriguez, was like a “member of the family.” According to police, Gonzalez did not know the gun was loaded.

Police have not said whether anyone will face charges for allowing the boys access to the gun.
