Four-year-old Killed, and Three Other People Injured After Accidentally Shooting Themselves

A four-year-old boy left alone in a car in Brunswick, Georgia, found an unsecured gun there and fatally shot himself in the head. The 25-year-old boyfriend of the boy’s mother was charged with second-degree murder and tampering with evidence. Police continue to investigate.

And in three other gun accidents today, people were injured after unintentionally shooting themselves.

In Norfolk, Virginia, a 16-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury after accidentally shooting himself.

In a residence in Crossville, Tennessee, a man shot himself in the leg, requiring a tourniquet to stem the bleeding before he was airlifted to the hospital. The victim said he was attempting to clean his gun when the accidental discharge occurred. A neighbor told police he had been in an argument with the victim, but didn't elaborate. A 12-gauge shotgun was seized, as investigators continue their work.

And a 21-year-old man unintentionally shot himself inside an automotive parts store in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
