Three Boys Have Access to Guns and Shoot Themselves

An 11-year-old Brunswick, Georgia boy is hospitalized today after shooting himself in the chest. Police do not know if the shooting was accidental.  Although the gun owner's name is redacted from the police report, the report says that the boy's father told police that they visited the shooting range often. He said he taught his son about gun safety and would not have expected his son to pick up a gun.

A 13-year-old boy in Columbus, Ohio was hospitalized after police say he accidentally shot himself.  No further details are reported including how he obtained the gun.

Also in Ohio, a two-year-old boy shot himself in the chest in Ashtabula County. According to Sheriff's deputies, the child was in the garage of his home with his father and two siblings, ages nine and four. The father told police he was working in the garage when he heard what sounded like a firecracker and saw the two-year-old standing over the pistol and noticed a hole in the boy’s jacket. He added the pistol was still in its holster when the incident occurred.
