A four-year old in Columbus, Ohio was in stable condition at the hospital after rolling over onto a loaded gun on a bed in his home.  A "911 caller told police that the child rolled over onto a gun that way lying on the bed, causing the gun to go off, shooting the child in the leg.”

In Taos, New Mexico, a teenager driving with his grandfather to target practice was manipulating a Ruger handgun that he believed to be unloaded.  He shot and killed his grandfather, who was driving at the time of the accident.  “Court documents indicate that Jonah Martínez was handling a Ruger handgun, and ‘accidentally placed his finger on the trigger while racking the slide of the gun back and forth, causing the gun to fire.’ Martínez expressed extreme remorse to police officers and appeared ‘very distraught.’”  He was charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter.
