Three Children are Victims of Gun Accidents, One is Dead

Four-year-old Kaiden Everson was killed in an unintentional shooting in Huntsville, Alabama. Kaiden celebrated his 4th birthday earlier this month. His grandfather is mourning his first and only grandchild. “He loved playing with kids, he went to day-care and he played with the kids there. He was just full of life; he was just beginning his life.” Police continue to investigate, but the circumstances of the accident have not been reported.

In Charlotte, North Carolina a 4-year-old was accidentally shot and taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his hand. The child’s father, Leeshawn Brooks and another man, Paris Petty, were at home at the time of the shooting and have been charged with felony child abuse, “firearm by felon,” possession of a stolen firearm and storage of firearms to protect minors.

And in Homestead, Florida a school police officer’s 3-year-old son shot himself in the foot with one of the officer’s guns. He was airlifted to the hospital with severe injuries, but is currently in stable condition. The gun used was not the mother’s service weapon and the mother, Stephanie Jerez, has been charged with child neglect with great bodily harm.
