Father Shoots Son in Gun Handling Accident; Three Other Children Injured are Innocent Bystanders

In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, while handling a gun in the living room, 29-year-old Nicholas Pagan unintentionally shot his five-year-old son in the pelvis. The boy is in the hospital in stable condition. The gun used has not been recovered and Pagan, who was already under house arrest and probation for a prior gun conviction, has been charged on 3 counts, including aggravated assault.

A 15-month-old girl in Oakland, California was riding in the car with her parents when she was unintentionally shot. She is in the hospital in stable condition after undergoing surgery for a gunshot wound to her abdomen. Surveillance video shows a man firing off gunshots at the time of the incident. Oakland Police are asking anyone with information to contact them while they continue the investigation.

And in Elizabeth City, North Carolina an 8-year-old boy was shot in the arm while playing outside after school. A 17-year-old boy was also wounded during the burst of gunfire. Both were treated at the hospital and released. There is an active investigation and Elizabeth City Mayor said, “We are going to bring justice because no little child should be shot playing in their yard.”
