Four-year-old Kills Himself With Unsecured Gun

    Landyn Wilkerson

Four-year-old Landyn Wilkerson, accessed a loaded gun and fatally shot himself inside an apartment in Statesboro, Georgia. Police interviewed people in the residence there at the time of the shooting. The district attorney’s office will review the case.

From the GoFundMe page set up to help support Landyn’s family, “[l]andyn was full of life...His passion for music, especially playing the guitar, was undeniable—he truly lived through music. His family lovingly describes him as a true “character”—always joyful, always energetic, always bringing smiles.”

Landyn was the second child in the community to die in a shooting this week. The mayor ordered flags at City Hall to be flown at half-staff. “As a father and as your mayor, I am heartbroken. There are no words that can take away the pain of these losses, but I want the families to know this: Statesboro stands with you. We mourn with you. We are holding you close in prayer, thought, and love.”
