19-year-old Daughter Accidentally Shoots Mother, and Three Others Also Hurt in Unintentional Shootings

In Laredo, Texas, 19-year-old Crystal Mar is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after she unintentionally shot her mother in the head. Mar was trying to unload a gun she had in her purse by removing the magazine, when the gun discharged, striking her mother. The mother was alert at the hospital and is expected to survive.

In Von Ormy, Texas, a 16-year-old boy was playing with a gun and accidentally shot himself in the foot. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Police are investigating where the teen got the gun.

A 15-year-old boy in Huntington Station, New York, unintentionally shot himself in the hand with an illegal .22-cal. ghost gun. He is scheduled to appear at family court on multiple charges including criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon by a person under 16 and reckless endangerment.

And Mary Schulte, 64, in Overland Park, Kansas, was lying on her couch when she was shot by a stray bullet that entered her apartment from the ceiling. Her upstairs neighbor had unintentionally fired the gun. Schulte went to the hospital and was released the same day. There is an ongoing investigation and prosecutors will decide whether the neighbor will be charged.
