Two-year-old Killed in Accidental Discharge

In Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, two-year-old Kehlani Rodriguez was killed by an accidental discharge from a gun handled by 22-year-old Jesus Lopez. According to police, Lopez was handling a pistol around numerous children when it fired, fatally striking Kehlani, who was pronounced dead at the hospital. Lopez was charged with first-degree manslaughter.
A GoFundMe page was set up to help Kehlani’s parents give her a funeral that reflected the bright light she brought into their lives, and allow them to have some time to grieve and heal. Her father shared that he wanted his daughter’s funeral to be simple, but wanted Kehlani to rest in a pink casket wearing a Minnie Mouse dress surrounded by colorful flowers and her favorite toys. She just started speaking in full sentences; learning numbers and colors in both English and Spanish. The grief stricken father said he tries to remember the little moments. “She always, always, always made sure she would tell me a thousand times a day, ‘I love you, daddy.’”
