Teen Killed and Child Injured in Separate Accidental Shootings

In a Lumberton, North Carolina residence, a 15-year-old was accidentally shot in the chest and later died at the hospital. Brylon Sanders, age 18, cooperated with investigators at the scene. He told them, “he was attempting to unload and clear a firearm when the weapon discharged, striking the victim who was seated nearby.” The gun was recovered. Officials continue to investigate the shooting.

And in a vehicle in the parking lot of a Huntsville, Alabama Boys and Girls Club, a child accessed their mother’s firearm and shot themself. The child received treatment for the non-life-threatening injury. So far no charges have been filed.
