14-year-old Girl Shot and Killed in Backseat of Vehicle

A 14-year-old girl was shot and killed in the backseat of a vehicle in Hammond, Louisiana, by Demontez Treyvon “Trey” Robinson, age 18, who was sitting in the front seat. Robinson dropped a gun he was playing with that unintentionally fired, striking the girl. He has been charged with negligent homicide.

The police chief voiced concern about teens handling guns. “It’s his negligence, it’s his gross negligence, his actions are what caused the death and demise of a 14-year-old beautiful young girl who had a whole life ahead of her,” said the chief. “He’s destroyed a family, he’s destroyed a lot of things to be the guy that has the gun or is holding a gun.”

There is an ongoing investigation into the shooting.
