17-year-old Girl Killed in Accidental Shooting

Ni’Dreyah Marshall

In a Wilkins Township, Pennsylvania apartment, Ni’Dreyah Marshall, age 17, died at the scene with a single gunshot wound to the head, after being unintentionally shot by 20-year-old Rayohna Hexstall. Two men were with Marshall and Hextsall, when a gun that Hexstall was waving around, fired. The group had been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana. Initially Hexstall, whose one-year-old child was also in the apartment, claimed one of the other people was handling the gun, but witnesses disputed this. A witness said that Hexstall looked “surprised” when the gun discharged. She has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and recklessly endangering another person.

A statement on Facebook from the school district where Marshall was a student, encouraged anyone struggling with the loss to reach out to counselors that would be made available on site. “Our hearts grieve with the student’s family and friends as they process this unfathomable loss. Please keep them in your thoughts.”
