Teen Killed Playing With Gun With Friends

Three friends hanging out in an Arlington, Texas home, were playing with a gun that discharged, killing 14-year-old Riley Jordan. From a police statement, “[e]vidence suggests the juveniles were handling the weapon and pointing it at one another when it was discharged, striking the victim.” Riley was pronounced dead at the scene. An unidentified 15-year-old who fired the gun, was taken into custody and charged with manslaughter.
Riley would have turned 15 in a week. His obituary said he “was the kind of person who made life feel lighter just by being in the room…he carried an easy, laid-back spirit-funny, gentle, and steady…He wasn’t embarrassed to show people what they meant to him. Riley loved deeply, and he lived that love out loud.”
Police continue to investigate to determine how the teens got the gun.
